Private denture services usually have shorter waiting times than NHS options. At Denturecare UK Ltd, we offer flexible appointments and faster turnaround times, so patients can receive their dentures without unnecessary delays.

Acrylic dentures are made entirely from acrylic and are often used for both full and partial dentures. They are a popular and cost-effective solution. Chrome dentures, on the other hand, incorporate a lightweight metal framework that provides greater strength and support while allowing the denture to be made thinner and less bulky. The most suitable option will depend on factors such as the number and condition of your remaining teeth, your oral health and your individual requirements. Our Clinical Dental Technician will be happy to discuss the benefits of each option during your consultation.

Flexible dentures, such as Valplast dentures, are lightweight, metal-free partial dentures made from a flexible nylon material. They are designed to blend naturally with the gums and often use discreet gum-coloured clasps rather than visible metal clasps. Flexible dentures can be a comfortable and aesthetic option for some patients, although they may not be suitable for every case. Titanium dentures are partial dentures made using a titanium metal framework. Titanium is extremely strong, lightweight and biocompatible, making it an excellent option for some patients, particularly those who may have sensitivities to other metals. Chrome dentures are dentures made with a lightweight metal framework, usually chrome cobalt, which provides excellent strength and durability. Yes. Poorly fitted dentures can make eating and speaking difficult. Private dentures from Denturecare UK Ltd are custom-fitted to your bite and mouth shape, improving stability, chewing function, and speech clarity.

Learning to wear new dentures can take time. Don’t become discouraged if you find some difficulty in the beginning. You are not alone! Please do not compare yourself to friends who tell you how easy it was for them to get used to their dentures and how they can eat everything and anything. They may have greater bone or gum support or their memories may be faded. Your denturist will help you through any difficulties you may face or any situations that may arise during your adjustment period.

A lower denture usually takes more time to adjust to than an upper denture. The tongue may feel restricted and will tend to play, sometimes even subconsciously, with the new denture. It will soon adapt to the restrictions and to the new feeling that a denture presents.

KEEP YOUR OLD SET if you have them! If your new dentures need any adjustments after fitting, we may need to keep them for a few days so keep your old set as a spare.

It is perfectly normal to experience some discomfort associated with sore spots during the adjustment period. Nature did not intend for us to wear hard plastic against soft gum tissue. It takes a while for the gum tissues to firm up and to accommodate the hard plastic denture.

It is normal to notice some minor changes to your speech when you first start wearing new dentures. Certain sounds, particularly “s”, “f” and “th” sounds, may feel different while your tongue and facial muscles adapt to the new denture shape.

Most patients adjust within a few days to a few weeks, and regular speaking, reading aloud and practising difficult words can help speed up the process. Well-made dentures should allow you to speak clearly and confidently once you have adapted to them.

If speech difficulties persist, it may indicate that your dentures require adjustment. Our Clinical Dental Technician can assess the fit and make any necessary modifications to help ensure your dentures are as comfortable and functional as possible.

Yes, all of our dentures come in a wide range of shades. We have shade guides available and your Clinical Dental Technician will help and advise you so that you can choose your perfect shade.

It’s recommended to remove dentures at night to allow your gums to rest and maintain oral hygiene.

Try to eat only soft foods for the first few days with new dentures. Then progress to more solid foods and try to eat slowly and deliberately. By placing food on both sides of the mouth at the same time while chewing, you balance the biting forces on the new denture and will help to make it more stable. The longer you take to eat your meal, the faster you will learn to master your new dentures.

Try to take small bites at first. Cut all your food into small portions. If your gum tissues are strong enough to try foods which require biting such as bread and fruits, try to chew the food with the back teeth in order to stabilise the denture.

If sore spots should develop – TRY to wear the denture for at least 6 hours prior to your adjustment visit! If your denturist can’t see the sore spot, it is sometimes impossible for him to make the necessary adjustments.

NEVER try to adjust your dentures yourself! The process of adjustment is just as intricate and important as all the preceding stages and needs to be undertaken by your Clinical Dental Technician.

Call us if you require any adjustments to your new denture. We cannot take any responsibility for problems incurred by self adjustment of your dentures.

We do not make adjustments to dentures that we have not made.

Keeping your dentures clean is not only important for your denture but important for your oral health. An unclean denture is neither healthy, attractive nor comfortable.

Clean your new denture each morning and night with a toothbrush and denture toothpaste (if necessary, any toothpaste can be used) or with one of the commercially available denture cleaners.

Please be sure to check with your denturist that the denture cleaner will not interfere with any liner that you may have on your denture. Soft liners react poorly to most ‘fizzy’ bleach-based cleaners and can be irreparably damaged. We can sell you a professional cleaner that will not damage a soft liner.

You may prefer to leave out one or both of your dentures at night. This allows your gum tissues to breathe and also relieves them of the constant pressures of chewing. If you do not want to do this then try to take your dentures out for at least 1 hour each day – an ideal time to do this is during showering / bathing.

We always need to see the denture so that we can assess what needs to be done, usually, you will be able to collect the repaired denture within a couple of hours.

Occasionally extra time may be required we will advise you once we have seen the denture. In most cases, a denture repair can be carried out without the need to take an impression.

Please bring the denture cleaned and in a sealed bag or container.

Don’t worry you don’t need to come yourself, usually, repairs can be done without the need to take an impression, so you can ask a friend or family member to drop the broken denture off for you.

Please clean and place the denture in a sealed plastic bag or container. Once we have examined the denture we will be able to advise on cost and advise you when the repair will be ready to collect.

It is very important that you continue to see your own dentist regularly to evaluate the state of your oral tissues and to determine if additional treatment is required. NHS patients will need to visit their dentist at least every 15 months or they can be de-registered.
